Although editors do proofread, there is considerably more to the job of a professional editor than merely checking for errors in spelling and grammar.
As an editor, I ensure that the structure, style and content of a document best supports its purpose and its readers. I also check that the document is factually accurate and free from biases and potential legal issues. My considerable understanding of graphic and information design also allows me to analyse the presentation of text and graphics to ensure that they enhance the message being communicated.
I have edited several corporate magazines and newsletters, as well as a range of documents including engineering and environmental reports, legal and medical articles, annual reports and websites.
