Experience design

Experience design is the practice of designing products, events and environments by considering every aspect of how a person interacts with them. Experience design draws on many different disciplines, including psychology, cognitive science, human-computer interaction, information architecture, information design and contingency design. Unlike traditional approaches to design, Experience design is completely focused on one thing — people, or more correctly, on an individual who is interacting with the product or environment. It is concerned with creating an environment that connects with that individual at an emotional level.

I have always been passionate about the way people experience information, and have been championing the importance of ‘soft factors’ in communication since 1990, long before Experience design was recognised as a specialisation. With my wide range of skills across multiple disciplines, I am confident I can assist you in improving how your brand, products and services are experienced by people inside and outside your organisation.
